India's Sai Sudharsan reacts as he walks back to the pavilion having lost his wicket without scoring on the opening day of the first cricket test match

On Day 3 of India’s opening Test against England in Leeds on Sunday, June 22, rookie Sai Sudharsan failed to capitalise on a missed opportunity, departing for 30 runs off 48 deliveries. Ben Stokes, the English captain, bowled an inswinger and the southpaw fell into his trap. Sai Sudharsan was caught inside the 30-yard circle after failing to keep the ball down. In the first innings, he had been sent out for a four-ball duck by the same bowler.

In India’s second innings, the dismissal occurred in the twenty-first over. The left-hander hit a fuller-length ball that Stokes bowled on the stumps straight to Zak Crawley at mid-wicket. Ben Duckett dropped Sai Sudharsan on 24 at backward point in the 18th over as the fielder made a quick low catch, ending his chances.
