Shubman Gill of India during day five of the first Rothesay Test Match

Shubman Gill, the Indian Test captain, shared an amusing post with colleagues Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj before of the second Test against England. The second Test match in India’s five-match series in England is set to start on Wednesday, July 2, in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Shubman Gill had uploaded a pictorial screen shot on his Instagram account; in which he was seen standing in a cut-out promotion poster with Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj. The poster displays characters of a British crime drama series on television set in the period of crime: the television series Peaky Blinders. One can clearly see only the faces of three cricketers who all have devised different and humorous looks.

“By the order of the cheeky blinders 😎,” Gill captioned the post.

On the fifth day in Leeds, England knocked down a target of 371 runs in the fourth innings, and India lost the first Test by five wickets. With four Tests left, the home team established a 1-0 advantage.

As a result, Shubman Gill’s first innings as India’s Test captain was unsuccessful. In the second Test at Birmingham, he and the squad will be eager to recover.

Shubman Gill and his crew will have a lot of thinking to do following the loss in the first Test. India lost chances to score higher totals on the board as they fell from solid batting positions in both of their innings.

Furthermore, India ultimately lost the game as a result of poor fielding, which saw multiple catches missed during both innings. Furthermore, no bowler appeared to be as dangerous as Jasprit Bumrah, who took five wickets in the opening innings.

Jasprit Bumrah of India talks with his captain Shubman Gill of India during day five of the 1st Rothesay Test Match

Jasprit Bumrah is expected to miss the second Test owing to workload management. India will need to consider their strategy and make some adjustments to the starting lineup in light of that and the errors they made in the first game.

Personally, Gill’s first Test match as captain was a memorable batting performance. With 147 runs off 227 balls, 19 boundaries, including a six in his debut innings as Test captain, he reached a hundred.
