The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet confirmed India’s August visit of Bangladesh, according to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Aminul Islam. Islam stated that following talks with the Indian government, the BCCI would make a decision regarding the tour.

The BCCI had told the BCB that if they didn’t arrive in August, India would tour the neighboring country at the next available window. However, no appropriate explanation for the uncertainties surrounding the tour was given.

“I have already spoken to the BCCI. Discussions have been positive. We remain hopeful. It is scheduled [next month] but they are waiting for some decisions from the government,” Islam said at a press conference in Dhaka after a six-hour meeting of the BCB’s board of directors.

“The discussions are ongoing. If for some reason they can’t come [in August], they will come at the next available window. We are hopeful of playing in this window. I can’t say much apart from the fact that they are very professional and cooperative.”

The schedule for India’s August six-white-ball matches to Bangladesh was revealed by the BCB in April. August 17, 20, and 23 will see the three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), while August 26, 29, and 31 will see the Twenty20 Internationals. Mirpur and Chattogram were to host the matches.

This is the first bilateral Twenty20 International series between India and Bangladesh. The Men in Blue are also making their first trip to Bangladesh with just white balls since they went there to play three ODIs in 2014. The forthcoming tour will serve as the last training for the 2025 T20 Asia Cup, which India will host. Most likely, the Asia Cup will take place in September.
