Yashasvi Jaiswal of India leave the pitch after being caught by Jamie Smith of England off the bowling of Ben Stokes during day one of the 2nd Rothesay Test Match

Ben Stokes dismissed the dangerous Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second session of the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, as England broke a 66-run stand.

During the first session, the two flashy cricketers engaged in a verbal battle. After Stokes chose to field first after winning the toss, Yashasvi was playing at full capacity. By playing an aggressive style of cricket and scoring runs quickly, he attacked the England bowlers. The Indian opener reached 62 runs off 69 balls in the opening session.

After lunch, the scoreboard continued to move thanks to the brilliant combination of Yashasvi and Shubman Gill, after India had lost the wickets of KL Rahul and Karun Nair in the opening session. Yashasvi and Shubman were gradually but surely putting India in a stronger position, and the surface was giving the England bowlers nothing.

Ben Stokes threw the ball wide of Yashasvi’s off stump. The latter attempted to catch the delivery but was unsuccessful, managing just an under-edge that was caught by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith. After making a crucial breakthrough for his team, Stokes was elated. However, a distraught Yashasvi was not prepared to make the arduous trek back to the pavilion.
