India and Pakistan clashed in the Super Fours of the 2025 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 21. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India secured a comfortable six-wicket win, keeping their unbeaten run alive in the tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav decided to bat in the first place, having won a toss. Pakistan began well, as it scored 91/1 in the first 10 overs with Sahibzada Farhan, the opener, making 58 in 45 balls. India, however, recovered in the second half of the innings leaving Pakistan with 171/5. Shivam Dube and Kuldeep Yadav each got two and one wicket respectively and India had established a comfortable chase.

Openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill helped India start her chase off on a flying start. The two manufactured a 105 run partnership in 59 balls, Abhishek crushing 74 in 39 balls, and Gill making 47 in 28 balls.
Their best bowler was Pakistan’s Haris Rauf who earned two wickets, yet India remained in charge. It took the Men in Blue 18.5 overs to track the target and Abhishek Sharma was the Player of the Match due to his aggressive innings.
Here, we examine three instances from the game that caused excitement among the supporters:
1. Abhishek Sharma hits a six off the first ball

Abhishek Sharma began India’s chase in style, smashing a six off the very first delivery from Shaheen Afridi. The southpaw showed no nerves, sending the short-pitched ball over fine leg for a maximum.
He continued his aggressive innings with five sixes and six fours, while Afridi struggled, finishing with figures of 3.5-0-40-0.
2. Suryakumar Yadav’s smart run-out of Mohammad Nawaz

Mohammad Nawaz was run out in a bizarre moment during the 19th over. After taking a single off Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery, Nawaz wandered out of his crease at the striker’s end.
Suryakumar Yadav noticed it and made a direct hit, catching Nawaz short of the crease. Nawaz had scored 21 off 19 balls before being dismissed.
3. Abhishek Sharma’s stunning diving catch

Abhishek Sharma redeemed his previously missed opportunities with a spectacular catch of diving someone to remove Saim Ayub on the 11th over. The Pak batter pushed a pull off Shivam Dube and Abhishek moved a long distance at the deep back square leg to get the catch.
This wicket was a breakthrough of this 72-run partnership between Farhan and Ayub, which brought India a significant breakthrough in the match.
