Abhishek Sharma is part of India A’s squad for the second and third 50-over matches against Australia A, scheduled on October 3 and 5 in Kanpur. He joins the series after being named Player of the Tournament in the 2025 Asia Cup, where India won their ninth title.
After the Asia Cup, Abhishek attended his sister Komal Sharma’s pre-wedding function in Ludhiana and was seen dancing with his mentor Yuvraj Singh. Komal’s wedding falls on October 3, which clashes with India A’s second ODI against Australia A.

Abhishek who has shone through in T20Is has not yet featured in ODIs. He opted to miss his sister wedding so that he could be free to be selected as he is aware that the coming matches are an opportune time to demonstrate his talent in the 50-over format.
The 25 year old has batted 61 List A matches, with the total of 2,014 runs with a strike rate of 99.21 and an average of 35.33. He possesses eight fifties and four centuries and also taken 38 wickets with his best figures of 4/56 making him an important all rounder to India A.
Abhishek Sharma Eyes First ODI Spot After Strong Asia Cup performance

Abhishek Sharma provided India with thrilling starts in all but the last game in the Asia Cup. His total runs were 314 in seven innings with an average score of 44.86 with a strike rate of 200, which was quite consistent and aggressive in spite of the rapid wicket loss.
The second ODI series that India faces is a three-match match against Australia later in the month and the matches will be in Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney on October 19, 23, and 25. Any good showing against Australian A would assist Abhishek to stay in contention with his first ODI call-up.
