The incident occurred when Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf was involved in an angry exchange with opener Abhishek Sharma when the fifth over of the Indian chase in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours match happened in Dubai. Rauf glared at Abhishek after the latter hit one of the boundaries at the beginning of the over. The young Indian batter did not reply, but the fast bowler appeared to be excited in the pressure race.
The situation escalated further when Shubman Gill cracked a boundary off the final ball of the over. Words were exchanged between the Indian openers and Rauf before the umpires quickly stepped in to calm things down. The over cost Pakistan 12 runs, with India gaining the upper hand in their chase of 172.

The India-Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours started on a scorching note. Abhishek Sharma smashed Shaheen Shah Afridi for a huge six on the very first ball. The shot added color to the innings and even sparked a brief exchange of words between the young opener and the Pakistani pacer, though it was no match for the fiery confrontation that followed with Haris Rauf.
The words exchanged between the men appeared to incite Abhishek, who continued to attack and make the pursuit appear easy.
