India's captain Suryakumar Yadav gestures at the end of the Asia Cup 2025 Twenty20 international cricket match

At the toss before India’s Asia Cup 2025 match against Oman in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19, skipper Suryakumar Yadav had a funny moment as he recalled his Mumbai Indians teammate Rohit Sharma.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Suryakumar was asked about the changes in India’s XI. He confidently named Harshit Rana but forgot the second change — Arshdeep Singh. After struggling to remember, he laughed it off and admitted, “I’ve become like Rohit.”

The light-hearted comment was a nod to Rohit’s well-known habit of forgetting things. In fact, during the 2013 Champions League, Rohit famously forgot his own plan at the toss — he chose to bat despite the team’s plan being to bowl.

“We have two changes – Harshit comes in, one more guy comes in, I have become like Rohit,” the Indian captain said while bursting into a laughter.

India promote Sanju Samson

India made a couple of interesting batting order changes in their group match of the Asia Cup 2025. After Shubman Gill fell early for just five, Sanju Samson walked in at No. 3. The wicketkeeper-batter, who didn’t get a chance in the first two games, grabbed the opportunity and went on to score a fine half-century off 41 balls.

Hardik Pandya also got a promotion to No. 4 and did not get a chance to score after the only ball he faced at the non-striker end was run out. India had gone to 167/5 by the 17th over and it seemed like having an overall score of over 200.
