Mohammed Siraj is bowled by Shoaib Bashir as England win the third Rothesay Test Match

Fans online praised Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj for his valiant performance in a losing cause during the third Test against England at Lord’s on Monday, July 14. The home team went ahead 2-1 in the five-match series after defeating the visitors by 22 runs in the match.

Ravindra Jadeja put India in contention on the last day after falling to 112/8 in the opening session. For the ninth wicket, he first fashioned a valiant partnership of 35 (132) with Jasprit Bumrah (5). As India edged closer to the objective in the last session, Mohammed Siraj entered the game and kept Jadeja company after Bumrah was dismissed in the 62nd over.

The pair moved their team near the mark with a valiant partnership of 23 (80) for the last wicket. But Siraj was heartbreakingly removed in the 75th over, and India suffered a hard-fought defeat. The fans praised the Hyderabad pacer for his tough knock of 4 (30), which demonstrated excellent poise under duress. Here are a few X responses to the issue:

“Put up a fight and faced more deliveries than most batters in the innings with much more added pressure. Such a unlucky way to get out. Chin up Sir Viv Siraj,” a fan wrote.

“Chin up lad, you’ve shown more resilience than our top order batters,” a fan wrote.

“He literally froze there in that position for a few moments, cursing himself. Even after all that effort with the ball and then being a wall with the bat, he didn’t deserve to stand there with tears in his eyes,” a fan wrote.

“Well fought Siraj Miyaan. Respect,” a fan wrote.

“siraj gave it his all, what a warrior,” a fan wrote.

“He gave everything, every spell, every ounce of fight. And when it still wasn’t enough, the emotion spilled out. That’s not weakness. That’s what playing for India means,” a fan wrote.

Gives his blood with the ball
Gives his sweat with the bat

Just look at how broken he felt when he got out like that. 💔

Pure passion. India has found a player as passionate as him after ages.

“Tremendously Proud of the Boys” – Shubman Gill Reflects on 3rd Test Loss at Lord’s

Ben Stokes of England talks to Mohammed Siraj of India at the end of play during day five of the third test match

Indian skipper Shubman Gill was happy with the fighting spirit of his team even after a close defeat at the post-match presentation. He was happy with the relentless bowling performance of the English; he had a dejected face because there was no good opening storm and in the process of the chase after the target.

“This is as close as a test match gets, came down to the last session and last wicket, tremendously proud of the boys. We had plenty of batting left, we were confident. England kept attacking, needed better partnerships at the top order. There’s always hope, as long as there’s a batter batting, the target was in reach.”

“Jadeja is very experienced, he knew what he was doing, didn’t send any message from the dressing room, he batted well with the tail. Things would’ve been easier had we got a fifty run partnership. The series scorecard doesn’t reflect how well we’ve been playing.”

The fourth Test between the teams will take place on July 23 at Old Trafford in Manchester.
