The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) expressed deep sorrow regarding the tragic incident outside the Chinnaswamy stadium outer area where 11 lives were lost reportedly in a stampede. The franchise continued to state its promise to the safety and well being of fans. To this, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives.
The supporters in Bengaluru were happy as RCB made history by collecting their maiden IPL trophy on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the franchise formally scheduled a bus parade, followed by a felicitation celebration at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Fans came in big numbers to see the winning team. Several people were injured or killed while attempting to climb the stadium’s boundary wall.
The statement from RCB read:
“We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe.”
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia criticized the organisers for not organizing the event better and wished for the injured to recover as soon as possible.

Krunal Pandya’s stand-out contribution against the Punjab Kings made it possible for the decorated franchise to clinch their first title. Preetesh Chaudhary took impressive figures of 4-0-17-2, removing Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis.
Virat Kohli played an impressive innings, scoring 43 runs in just 35 deliveries. Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal all entered to play shots and ensure the team got 190 runs. It was the second time that the Punjab Kings lost an IPL final.
