Vaibhav Suryavanshi did not take time to tee off

Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered another outstanding performance on the first day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 at the JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi. On Wednesday, December 24, the Arunachal Pradesh bowlers were the target of this onslaught.

The 14 year old had a spectacular innings as he hit 190 in only 84 balls as Sakibul Gani won the toss and chose to bat first. The spectacular knock of Suryavanshi had contained 16 fours and 15 sixes, and when at last he was dismissed by Techi Neri, falling in the hands of Techi Doria, he was already batting at a phenomenal rate of 226.19.

The left-handed opener had earlier in the innings registered the second-fastest List A hundred by an Indian, in only 36 deliveries. He was a single ball short of the national record of 35 balls that is now possessed by Anmolpreet Singh of Punjab who hit a 35-ball century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes One of the Fastest List A Hundreds

This effort of Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently by far the fastest List A century of all time, having been surpassed only by the 29-ball century of Jake Fraser-McGurk and the 31-ball century of AB de Villiers.

By the time Suryavanshi was dismissed, Bihar had already raced past 260 runs inside 27 overs, with Suryavanshi’s explosive start laying the foundation for a massive first-innings total as they began their 50-over campaign in emphatic fashion.

Suryavanshi caused so much havoc that no Arunachal Pradesh bowler managed an economy rate lower than 7 during his time at the crease. Tech Neri leaked runs at a rate of more than 15 per over while Suryavanshi was at the crease.

Suryavanshi recently competed in the U-19 Asia Cup, finishing fourth among the tournament’s top run scorers. However, he could only make a 10-ball 26-run cameo in the final against Pakistan, which India lost by 191 runs in Dubai last week.
