Former India leg-spinner Amit Mishra has urged Kuldeep Yadav to concentrate on his natural variations during the Asia Cup 2025, pointing out that he is a true breakthrough bowler. Mishra thinks that during the current Asia Cup, Kuldeep’s ability to take wickets will be essential on the UAE fields. In the past, when India won the Champions Trophy in the United Arab Emirates, the left-arm wrist-spinner was a key player.

Although Kuldeep is included in the team that went to England, he never played a single game, although fans and former cricketers insisted he should do it. Even though he has again been part of the 15-man Asia Cup 2025 squad of India, it is still uncertain whether he would be included in the starting line up. But Mishra is sure that Kuldeep was going to get his opportunity and he reminds that the spinner just has to keep focussing on getting wickets and trust his ability.

“I think he should get a chance, but the most important thing is that he should focus on his natural ball. He is a wicket-taker bowler. He should keep his mind right. He should talk to people like Gautam and the captain about the kind of field he wants and how to bowl. I think he will get a chance here.”

Amit Mishra

“He is a good talent, but he should remember that he is a wicket-taker bowler. He should focus on the wicket and not on how many sixes or fours he is conceding. According to the wicket and the situation, the bowling can change. You should always think about the wicket. You should think about the field and how to bowl. He will get a lot of help from that.”

Throughout his T20 career, Kuldeep Yadav has shown his talent where he has been able to take 69 wickets with an incredible average of 14.07 in 40 matches. He has cemented his status as a wicket taking alternative in the shortest format as he hits every 12.4 balls at a rate of 6.77. He continued his splendid shape in the 2024 Indian premier league, where he played 14 matches in which he took 18 wickets on behalf of the Delhi Capitals.

India will face the United Arab Emirates on September 10 at the beginning of their Asia Cup 2025 in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The much-hyped game against long-time arch-rivals Pakistan will be held on the same venue on September 14. On September 19 India will then conclude their group-stage matches against Oman in Abu Dhabi.
