Virat Kohli, the Indian batting great, has reportedly pumped INR 40 crore into Agilitas Sports, marking an exciting new chapter of growth for his lifestyle-athleisure brand One8. Having spent eight successful years with Puma, the former India captain has turned down a massive renewal offer to instead invest in an Indian sportswear startup led by former Puma India CEO Abhishek Ganguly.
Kohli’s connection with Puma lasted over a decade, making it one of the largest athlete-brand collaborations in India. His original 2017 contract with the German firm was allegedly worth INR 110 crore, paving the stage for One8 to thrive under Puma’s banner. As the contract approached its expiration in 2025, Puma offered an estimated INR 300 crore renewal. However, Kohli selected Agilitas Sports, founded by Ganguly, because it provided not only a sponsorship but also the potential to help build a full-fledged Indian sportswear brand. As a result, Kohli sold One8 to Agilitas and made significant investments to acquire a minority ownership. The cricketer revealed the agreement on his social media page.
“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter straight from my heart. A new journey begins for one8 and Agilitas, driven by purpose and ambition. Taking one8 home to Agilitas,” he captioned the post.

I wanted to be a part of it: Virat Kohli

Notably, Kohli’s INR 40 crore investment translates into approximately a 1.94% stake in Agilitas via Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares (CCPS). Ganguly revealed that Virat Kohli will have a mid-single-digit minority ownership after the purchase is done. Importantly, the agreement is exclusive, which means Kohli will not promote any other sports brand during this time. The 37-year-old made his decision based on Ganguly’s vision.
“When the offer came through and he (Ganguly) made me understand the force behind it, the manufacturing capabilities, the expertise that he has, and the kind of people that were going to come on board, I thought this could become something big and of course, I wanted to be a part of it,” Kohli said.

Meanwhile, Agilitas had already bought Mochiko Shoes, a top footwear producer for key worldwide brands. Under the new agreement, One8 will be developed, enlarged, and positioned globally inside Agilitas’ framework.
