Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Virat Kohli gestures during the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 final cricket match

Virat Kohli’s attempts to address the crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru were humorously rejected by the ardent fans who were constantly screaming ‘RCB’ and ‘Kohli’ during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s felicitation on Wednesday, June 4.

The crowd, eagerly waiting for the microphone to be handed to Kohli, started cheering aloud by the time the event’s anchor finished his opening remarks. Virat Kohli and the anchor attempted to defuse the situation so that the former could begin his statement. However, all efforts to dissuade the passionate followers proved futile.

The anchor had to switch to Kannada to try to control the scene. He was successful after a point, and Virat Kohli thanked the supporters for their continuous support throughout the years. Kohli attributed the title victory to the fans as well as the team players and management.

In the run chase, Shashank Singh (61* off 30) batted aggressively lower in the middle order. However, the top-order batter did not contribute sufficiently. Aside from Josh Inglis (39 off 23), no other batters fired. Iyer was dismissed cheaply on one out of two. Krunal Pandya (2/17 in four overs) was named Player of the Match (POTM).
