Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir left many spectators bewildered as he gave many cricketing legends new nicknames in a jestful explosive during the Delhi Premier League (DPL) final with only a week to the Asia Cup 2025. People immediately took notice when Gambhir made a quick-cut video where he called known batsman Virat Kohli the Desi Boy.
The former India opener seemed comfortable at the event, having absconded in cricket when India went on a month-long international break. Gambhir acknowledged he has not been watching a lot of cricket in recent years, and there are still series in progress such as Australia vs South Africa, UAE Tri-Series, Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe and Bangladesh vs Netherlands.
During the interaction, he gave unique titles to several Indian cricket stars. He called Shubman Gill the “Most Stylish,” Jasprit Bumrah “Speed,” and Sachin Tendulkar “Clutch.” Rishabh Pant was named the “Most Funny,” VVS Laxman the “Run Machine,” and Zaheer Khan the “Death Over Specialist.” Gambhir also tagged Nitish Rana as the “Golden Arm” and Rahul Dravid as “Mr. Consistent.”

“I’ve been at home and I haven’t watched a lot of cricket, but it’s a great platform for a lot of these boys who can showcase their talent. And DPL is a fantastic job. They’ve done a great job of giving such kind of a platform to so many players who can showcase their talent,” Gambhir said to the broadcaster.
“I think there will never be a shortage of talent in Delhi, because a lot of kids go and will play cricket, and obviously, the local competitions are really tough. And I believe, Delhi has so much to offer, not only for Delhi cricket, but a lot for India cricket as well. And hopefully these boys will keep showcasing the talent.”
