In the second semi-final of the ICC Men T20 World Cup of 2026 in India vs England in the Wankhede stadium, Harry Brook was dismissed by a spectacular catch by Axar Patel. Playing against such a formidable total, India had to score very early and Jasprit Bumrah did it in style in the fifth over of powerplay.
At the first ball of the over Jasprit Bumrah threw an astute slower ball, his fingers crossed over the seam thereby fooling Brook totally. The captain of the England side tried to pull early when he retreated, but he was too soon over the shot. This timing error made the bottom hand to leave the bat and the ball bloomed over the cover area.

What came next was a period of glory in the game. Axar Patel ran back following the rolling ball and kept his eyes constantly on the ball. And, as it started to fall fumblingly, he changed in time, and sprang as it dropped on him. Axar caught his prey again, though it appeared to be slipping out of his hands, and made a beautiful grab. He took a short pause on landing, and had the ball under his control.
"Bapu tari fielding kamal che!" 🔥
Out of words for that sensational catch by Axar Patel to end Harry Brook’s stay at the crease! 👏
Catch of the tournament? 🤔

Another move of genius came through Axar in the 14th over to send Will Jacks back. Arshdeep Singh threw a wide full toss on the outside off and Jacks inquired to get it. The England batter cut the ball off the toe end of the bat on the left of the deep point.

Two fielders had been put in position in India, and Axar had gone running down to receive the ball. During full running speed, he managed to pass it but started losing his balance towards the boundaries cushions. Demonstrating immense composure, Axar threw the ball out at the right time throwing it to an advancing Shivam Dube and jumped over the ropes. Dube caught the ball easily and Jacks was beaten back to the pavilion.
Axar Patel! How have you done that? 😲
The catch may go down as Shivam Dube's but Bapu's brilliance made it all happen! 👏
