Captain Hardik Pandya delivered a motivational message in the Mumbai Indians (MI) dressing room after losing to reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12.
Captain Hardik Pandya inspired his team in the dressing room after the devastating defeat. The all-rounder advised the team to consider their previous results and choose how to compete at their highest level moving forward in the competition.
“Taking from what MJ (Mahela Jayawardene) said, I think here there are two options that we can do. One is going back in our rooms, go back in our cocoon spaces and try to figure it out. I know it’s tough, losing is always tough, but let’s learn. Let’s not get disappeared. It is always winning and learning, never losing. So, let’s do that. That’s what something which tonight, after the game, once we go back to the hotel, let’s have a meal together, and we will figure something out. We will talk about cricket, we will talk about something else, but we will figure it out,” Hardik said in the dressing room.

MI has never lost three games in a row in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The five time winners have now placed seventh in the rankings following defeats to the Delhi Capitals, and the Rajasthan Royals and most recently the RCB after victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders on their first match.

From the moment RCB scored 240 runs while batting first, MI was chasing the match. Sherfane Rutherford’s quick-fire 71 not out towards the conclusion of their innings prevented the hosts from losing by much more than 18 runs.
MI have a few days to reflect before facing an in-form Punjab Kings team in Match 24 at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 16.
