Rohit Sharma brought up his fifty off just 23 balls

Rohit Sharma is scheduled to make his return on April 29 when the MI will meet Sunrisers Hyderabad.

K L Rahul: The ever since Indian opener is out since April 12 after having suffered a hamstring injury while batting during the five-time champions’ defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In the last three games – against Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings – he has missed out.

As per Cricbuzz, Rohit Sharma is working his way back to full fitness and is targeting a return for the April 29 clash at the Wankhede Stadium. Reports also suggest that the Mumbai Indians’ support staff remain optimistic about his recovery, with Rohit himself keen to regain full match fitness soon.

Rohit Sharma began the season with his fastest IPL fifty

“Rohit is working hard in the middle to get back to full fitness,” a source told Cricbuzz.

MI’s former captain has 137 runs at an SR of 165 in this IPL season till now. During the champions’ first match against the Kolkata Knight Riders – his only half-century of this year – he scored a magnificent 78 in just 38 balls, and for the first time at this season registered a score of more than 50.

Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hammered Mumbai Indians by an impressive 103 runs and made it through the powerplay. That phase cost the Windies dear when they lost three wicket and with it control of a difficult chase of 208.

“I feel that if we play our best cricket, we have a great chance, but the confidence, the focus, and the discipline have to be there for the next seven games. Well, I don’t know yet whether we need to win all seven, but obviously, starting off, I would like to do that – but let’s see how the tournament goes,” coach Mahela Jayawardene said after the CSK game.

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak briefly resisted for Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians are in seventh place halfway through the season, having won only two of their seven games. If they want to submit a playoff bid, they must improve their performance. For a bonding session, the team is traveling to Jamnagar.
