Eight teams have been split into two groups of four each to compete in the 2025 Asia Cup. Group A includes hosts UAE, Oman, India, and Pakistan, all of which are bitter rivals. Group B includes Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The top two teams from each group advance to the Super Four phase, where the top two teams advance to the championship game.

Superstars like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni have participated in the Asia Cup over the years. We compare their competition statistics before to the 2025 event. We shall go into more depth about the players’ T20 statistics because the forthcoming event will be played in the T20 format.

1. Virat Kohli vs MS Dhoni – Who has scored more runs and has a better average in the Asia Cup?

Dhoni played five matches on the Twenty20 in the Asia Cup. In 2016, he recorded 42 runs in four innings and zero average due to not having lost any game.

The former captain of India had played in 19 Asia Cup ODI. He had 648 runs at an average of 64.80 and a strike rate of 87.68 in one hundred and three half-centuries, which gave him 16 innings. Highest score, 109 star against Hong Kong, 96 balls, six fours and as many sixes.

Dhoni was hitting at 280 in five T20 Asia Cup games (four innings). During the 2016 tournament he hit six balls off Bangladesh in Mirpur with a strike rate of 333.33.

In the T20 Asia Cup, Kohli scored 103 fifties and four other scores of 50 or more in nine innings. In 2022, he played Afghanistan in Dubai and reached his highest score of 122* off 61 balls. The Indian batting sensation overcame his three-year century drought with a knock that included 12 fours and six sixes.

Dhoni failed to achieve a single score of fifty or more in the four innings in the T20 Asia Cup. Since he played the part of a finisher, it makes sense. In 2016, he faced Bangladesh in Mirpur and scored his highest score of 20* from six balls.

4. Virat Kohli vs MS Dhoni – Who has a better record in winning causes in the Asia Cup?

In the 2016 edition in Mirpur, Dhoni played five matches, all of which India won. Since Dhoni was not removed once in four innings, as was previously noted, he did not have an average in the competition.
