Speaking about Matthews’ injury, she sustained it when touring England with the West Indies women’s team. Because of her operation, she was unable to participate in the Women’s Big Bash League. The pre-draft pick of the Melbourne Renegades Women, Matthews chose not to participate in the WBBL draft. She later participated in the Hundred Women’s and South Africa home series.
