On Sunday, September 21, India won the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, defeating Pakistan by six wickets once more. Abhishek Sharma, who scored fifty runs, and his opening partnership with Shubman Gill helped India, who were chasing 172, finish the match with seven balls remaining.
After winning the toss, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav decided to bowl first. With openers Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan got off to a steady start. Farhan led the innings. Farhan reached his half-century off just 34 balls, and he and Saim Ayub added 72 runs for the second wicket after Fakhar was dismissed early.

The middle overs saw Pakistan struggle to score, going 39 balls without a boundary. India’s spinners, especially Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, kept the pressure on. Shivam Dube also made an impact, dismissing set batters Farhan (58) and Ayub (21). Pakistan managed just 80 runs in the final 10 overs and finished at 171/5, with captain Salman Agha’s unbeaten 17 and Faheem Ashraf’s 20 off 8 balls giving some late momentum.

In reply, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill started aggressively. Sharma scored 74 off 39 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes, reaching his fifty in just 24 balls. Gill supported well with 47 off 28, and the pair added 105 runs for the first wicket in under 10 overs.
Pakistan tried to fight back, as Faheem Ashraf dismissed Gill and Suryakumar Yadav fell for a duck. Abhishek Sharma also got out for 74, and Sanju Samson managed only 13. But Tilak Varma (30*) and Hardik Pandya guided India home. With nine runs needed in the final two overs, Tilak hit a six and a four off Shaheen Afridi to finish the chase at 174/4 in 18.5 overs.
