Team India ensured that he partied his victory despite the mistake in the awarding of the trophy during the Asia Cup 2025. This funny coffee cup celebration by Spinner Varun Chakravarthy caught the eye of everybody and this went viral on social media.
The confusion rose on handover of the trophy after the victory of India. Nevertheless, captain Suryakumar Yadav and his team members had a good time and were jokingly celebrating without the trophy. Suryakumar went to the extent of imitating a slow walk by Rohit Sharma at the 2024 T20 world cup final and then pretending to pick an imaginary cup.
Later Varun clarified that his viral post, in which he appeared to be asleep with a coffee cup, was just a good improvisation. He even acknowledged that he was about to pose with the actual trophy and instead he chose to make the situation funnier. The spiner was instrumental in the campaign of India and he six times averaging 20.42 secured seven wickets in six matches.
“I knew that we were going to win. By the time we won the second match, I knew that if we meet them in the finals we are going to win. So I had planned everything. I had planned I will sleep and take a photo with the cup next to me. But after the match, there was nothing next to me. There was just a coffee cup, so I went ahead with it. I knew that we would win all games. We are the number one team in the World. The Cup can be taken away, but we are champions,” said Chakravarthy on Breakfast with Champions.
The spinner went on to say that he is an introvert who appreciates dark comedy on occasion. He went on to discuss his passion for writing, which helped him unwind from cricket.
