Cameron Green, the Australian all rounder has been sidelined in the ODI series against India on the basis of minor side strain. It was decided to give him sufficient time to heal before the next Sheffield Shield game by Western Australia against South Australia, which will commence on October 28.
As a replacement, Australia has included Marnus Labuschagne in the team of three ODIs that will be held on Sunday, October 19, at the Perth Stadium. Labuschagne is to fly out of Adelaide after his Sheffield Shield game Saturday night on to the national team.
Green was new back bowler having just come back to competitive cricket after undergoing back surgery last year. He did not tour New Zealand in T20I to concentrate on red ball cricket, playing in the first Shield match against New South Wales in Western Australia last week.
During that game, Green was expected to bowl eight overs but managed only four, taking one wicket. Cricket Australia’s medical team did not clear him to bowl on consecutive days since Western Australia’s short first innings didn’t allow enough recovery time between his spells.

Cameron Green was not to play in the ODI series with India and would have only played the first two matches before being resting in the third. The five match T20I series would also be skipped as he was to concentrate on Sheffield Shield matches on behalf of Western Australia.
Marnus Labuschagne Returns as Injuries Shake Up Australia’s ODI Squad
Several injuries have been experienced by Australia squad before the white-ball series. Skipper Pat Cummins is out and Josh Inglis is not playing in the first two of the ODIs. Such absences have necessitated the team to make a number of alterations at the last minute.

Adam Zampa is also absent in the first ODI in Perth due to his paternity leave. Also, wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey has decided to participate in the Sheffield Shield game between South Australia and Queensland in Adelaide in preparation of the next Ashes, which excludes him also in relation to the ODI series.
Green is replaced in the squad by Marnus Labuschagne who comes back to the ODI set up after over a year. The 31 year old got his recall due to a magnificent performance in domestic cricket where he hit four hundred in five innings. To date, Labuschagne has 1871 runs in 66 ODIs with two and 12 fifties with an average of 34.65.
