The clash between India and Sri Lanka in Dubai was a thriller which went to a Super Over as they fought Super 4. Pathum Nissanka hit a noble century that offered hope to Sri Lanka but India rebelled in the final phases. Eventually, the victory was in the form of a calm bowling by Arshdeep Singh which ensured that India remained undefeated in the Asia Cup 2025.
The game was not devoid of disappointments because there were players that did not impress. Some of the batters found it difficult to get rhythm and this strained their teams at critical times. Nissanka was brilliant but Sri Lanka lost ground in the death overs which cost them dearly.
On the positive side, the stand out performer was Nissanka. His 107 off of 58 balls illuminated the match and made spectators nervous during the pursuit. Although his attempt was in vain a losing cause, it was one of the best individual knocks of the tournament.
3. Flop – Harshit Rana

Harshit Rana did not have a memorable performance, giving up 54r in the four overs. He was as uncontrolled with his line and length where he offered easy points to Pathum Nissanka. His variations also were not so accurate as he could be picked by the batters easier.
Although he eventually dismissed Nissanka in the final over, it was more of a mis-hit than a wicket earned. India would expect more control and consistency from their young pacer, especially in crunch matches.
2. Star – Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma struck again with the bat giving India a flying start in the powerplay. He struck early Maheesh Theekshana and moved on to score in any manner to another half century in the tournament.
His combative style had kept India on track as he had boundaries running on both sides of the wicket. His hit failed to break free as he tried to strike a loose delivery but his knock was the starting point of big total by India.
1. Flop – Suryakumar Yadav

The plight of Suryakumar Yadav continued, and he was unable to get form on the Sri Lanka tour of Asian Cup. The sharp turns of Hasaranga disconcerted him, a sweep was attempted, and he was dismissed.
The captain’s lack of runs has become a concern, especially with the final coming up. India will hope he can rediscover his rhythm before it starts affecting the team’s batting balance.
